One on one counseling delivered with compassion and skill.
We provide individual therapy, couples therapy, couples intensives and family therapy for ages 10 and up. We offer package plans, evening and weekend appointments. Telemental health services (web-based video sessions) are available for established clients. Some of our therapists accept insurance and sliding fee schedules.
We use an integration of approaches in our therapy practices, based on our training in multiple approaches and our commitment to staying updated on the latest evidence-based practices. Which approach we use is determined by the goals you set for yourself in therapy and the feedback you give us along the way. We regularly ask if you are improving and what we can do better. Generally, a person can expect improvement by the fourth session if we have formed a good working relationship and we are using the approach that is effective for you.
Individual therapy is appropriate for a person undergoing specific mental health conditions or for difficulties arising from every day or situational problems. In one-on-one therapy patterns of negative thoughts, feelings or behaviors are targeted for change.
For individual therapy, we may use Cognitive-Behavioral, Gestalt, Motivational-Interviewing, Solution-Focused, Transactional, Mindfulness, Brain-Based or Psycho-dynamic techniques.
Couples therapy is helpful when a relationship feels stuck in a negative communication pattern or in emotional distance from each other. For couples we may use Emotionally-Focused, Developmental, Imago, Relational Life or Gottman approaches to therapy.
Couples intensives are appropriate when a relationship is in crisis or when a couple wants to more quickly work through an issue.
Family therapy is used to strengthen relationships and communication in families. We use family systems approaches to our work in this area.
